Patent opinions from the Eastern District of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit

Privacy Policy

Summary

Patent Case Watch is a static, public website. Browsing it requires no account and no login. The site sets no cookies — not for browsing, not for the email signup, not at all — and runs no third-party tracking.

The only personal information collected is an email address, and only if you choose to give one to the weekly digest. Everything below describes exactly what happens to it.

The email digest

If you subscribe, the following is stored: your email address, whether you have confirmed it, the times you signed up and confirmed, the page you signed up from, and two random tokens — one that confirms the address and one that unsubscribes it. Nothing else. No name, no employer, no IP address, no browsing history.

Double opt-in. Signing up sends one confirmation email and nothing more. If you never click the link, no digest is ever sent and the unconfirmed record is deleted.

No tracking in the email. The digest contains no images, which means no tracking pixel and no open tracking. Link clicks are not tracked or rewritten — links go straight to this site. There is nothing to opt out of because none of it is collected.

Leaving. Every digest carries a one-click unsubscribe link that works immediately and needs no login. Unsubscribing stops all email; to have the record deleted outright rather than marked inactive, ask via the contact page.

Never sold, never shared. The list is not sold, rented, traded, or shared, and it is not used for anything other than the digest you asked for.

Who processes it

Two processors are involved, both acting on our instructions: Cloudflare, which hosts the site and the database the address is stored in, and Resend, which delivers the email. Your address is disclosed to Resend only so it can send you the digest.

Abuse control on the signup form uses a one-way salted hash of the requesting IP address, kept for about two days, purely to stop a script submitting thousands of signups. The IP address itself is never written down, and the hash cannot be turned back into one.

Retention

A confirmed subscription is kept until you unsubscribe. An unconfirmed signup is discarded if it is not confirmed within seven days. Signup abuse-control hashes are deleted after roughly 48 hours. Records of which digests were sent are kept as an operational log and contain no message content.

Server logs

Like any website, the hosting provider processes standard request data (such as IP address and browser user-agent) transiently to deliver and protect the site. This is used to serve pages and guard against abuse — not to build profiles of individuals — and is not sold or shared.

Analytics

If privacy-preserving analytics are enabled, the site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and reports only aggregate traffic. It does not use cookies, does not track you across sites, and cannot identify you individually. No analytics that set cookies are used.

Advertising

If advertising is enabled, ads are served by Google AdSense and are clearly labeled. Ad networks may use their own cookies or identifiers subject to their policies; see Google’s advertising policies. No advertising is active until this is switched on, and no other ad networks or tracking pixels are used.

Cookies and consent

No cookies are set by this site, for any purpose, including the email signup. Analytics, when enabled, are cookieless. Because nothing is stored on your device and no cross-site tracking occurs, no consent banner is required — and none is shown.

If accounts launch later

Optional user accounts (saved searches, alerts) are planned. Those would require a session cookie and would store more than an email address. This policy will be revised to describe that fully before any such feature is offered — it does not exist today.

Contact

A public contact address has not been configured yet. To flag a correction in the meantime, note the document’s govinfo ID (shown in the page address); records are re-verified against the official source before any change.
