I. Introduction The plaintiff OPTi Inc. (“OPTi”) alleges th at defendants Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (“AMD”), Standard Microsystems Corporation (“SMSC”) and VIA Technologies, Inc. (“VIA”) (collectively “defendants”) infr inge OPTi’s Low Pin Count (“LP C”) patents. OPTi alleges infringement of claims 1, 11, 12, 13, 18, and 19 of United States Patent No. 6,098,141 (“the ’141 Patent”) and claims 1 and 5 of United States Patent No. 5,944,807 (“the ’807 Patent”). The patents-in-suit share a common specification.
